The Assembly of the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Patras at its meeting No. 21/17.07.2023 having considered the 811/12740/24.04. 2018 decision of the Senate (Government Gazette Unit 1607/09.05.2018/Vol. B’), error correction (Government Gazette Unit 343/11.02.2019/Vol. B’), as amended by the decision of the Senate 86/743/20377/24.06.2020 (Government Gazette Unit 3058/23.07.2020/Vol. B’) and the decision of the Senate 151/1380/32168/01.10.2020 (Government Gazette Unit 4461/09.10.2020/Vol B’), with the error correction of 86/743/20377/24.06.2020 (Government Gazette Unit 3058/23.07.2020/Vol. B’) decision and in force, has decided to announce the call for expressions of interest for admission to the Postgraduate Studies (MSc) Program in “Applied Physics Studies in Atmospheric Sciences and Electronics”, for the academic year 2023-2024.

The MSc in “Applied Physics Studies in Atmospheric Sciences and Electronics” has as its cognitive object the science of Atmospheric and Environmental Physics, Electronics, as well as their applications, covering this subject matter both in its theoretical dimension and in its practical application.

The MSc in “Applied Physics Studies in Atmospheric Sciences and Electronics” leads to a Diploma of Postgraduate Studies in the following three (3) specializations:

  1. Electronics – Circuits and Systems.
  2. Electronics and Information Processing.
  3. Applied Meteorology and Environmental Physics.

Acceptable  in each Specialization are graduates:

  1. Electronics – Circuits and Systems.

From Departments of Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, as well as graduates from other Departments of Faculties of Natural or Technical Sciences of Greece or abroad, at the discretion of the selection committee.

  1. Electronics and Information Processing.

From Departments of Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, as well as graduates from other Departments of Faculties of Natural or Technical Sciences of Greece or abroad as well as graduates from Technological Educational Institutes, at the discretion of the selection committee.

  1. Applied Meteorology and Environmental Physics.

From Departments of Physics, Mathematics and Geology, as well as graduates from other Departments of Faculties of Natural or Technical Sciences of Greece or abroad, at the discretion of the selection committee.

The duration of the Postgraduate Studies is three (3) semesters.

Submission of applications

Interested applicants are invited to proceed through the link https://matrix.upatras.gr/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zups_pg_adm, submitting the following:

  • Application form in which the candidate expresses his/her interest in specific specializations (on the form available at the above electronic address).
  • Brief curriculum vitae.
  • Copy of graduate degree or a certificate of analytical score if the degree has not yet been awarded.
  • Certificate of analytical score.
  • Official certificate of knowledge of a foreign language (if available).
  • At least two letters of recommendation (For candidates not graduates of Department of Physics).
  • Copies of possible research papers.

Applications may also be submitted by graduates of the aforementioned Departments provided that, if selected, they will have submitted a Certificate of Completion of Studies before the date of the Assembly meeting to validate the list of successful candidates.

Selection Procedure

Those who apply in time are required to participate in an interview on Sept. 19, 2023. Further details of the exact time and venue of the interview will be announced.

The interview will be conducted only in the physical presence of the candidate and only on the above date. Non-attendance of the candidate for any reason, including force majeure, will automatically disqualify him/her from selection.

The selection criteria include: the duration of undergraduate studies, the Thesis relevant to the subject of the desired specialization, the existence of scientific publications or other scientific work, any scholarships, good knowledge of a foreign language, preferably English. Proof of foreign language knowledge will be demonstrated by possession of an official certificate and an examination during the interview.

The number of students admitted per year in each specialization may not exceed ten (10).
